How to Care for your Functional Handmade Pottery

Pottery made by Ashley at Beecraft Studio is food safe and lead free.  I fire all my functional stoneware pots to a temperature of over 2,200 degrees which makes it vitrified and ideal for drinking, serving and baking.  I use commercial clay bodies and food safe glazes because their formulations are safe and well tested.

Please Use Care and Good Judgment

My pottery is microwave and dishwasher safe. That being said you may find that you'll enjoy hand washing your pottery. You will find that this extra care can extend the life of your pots.  Do not use harsh scrub pads to clean your pottery as they can scratch the surface.  Never remove stoneware directly from a hot dishwasher and place something cold in it.

My pottery is oven safe but know that pottery hates shocking temperatures.  Never put a cold pot in a hot oven - always place pottery into a cold oven, then bring up to temperature. DO NOT PRE-HEAT OVEN.  Avoid sudden temperature changes; thermal shock can cause pottery to crack or break. Never use stoneware on a stove top or open flame.

Do not use stoneware that is chipped or cracked.
